Chase Elliott earns pole at Phoenix
AVONDALE, Ariz. — Chase Elliott will lead the field to the green in the Fan Shield 500 at Phoenix Raceway.
Elliott posted the fastest lap time in qualifying Saturday (March 7) at Phoenix Raceway. Elliott’s lap time of 26.065 seconds (138.116 mph average) was fast enough to earn his first pole of 2020 and ninth of his career.
Kevin Harvick, a nine-time Cup Series winner at Phoenix, will share the front row with Elliott.
Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney will start in third, fourth and fifth respectively.
THROUGH THE FIELD
Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, Matt DiBenedetto rounded out the top-9 starters.
Kyle Busch — the 2019 Phoenix I winner and defending series champion — will start 10th.
The highest qualifying rookie was Christopher Bell in 15th.
The Fan Shield 500 will be televised live on FOX Sunday (March 8) at 3:30 p.m. ET.
