Aric Almirola riding longest career top-10 streak into Bristol

Aric Almirola is currently on the longest consecutive top-10 finish of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career.
The second-year Stewart-Haas Racing driver opened the year with a 32nd-place finish in the Daytona 500. Since then, Almirola has finished inside the top-10 in each of the last six Cup Series races, finishing no lower than ninth.
Almirola’s season-high thus far was a fourth-place run at ISM Raceway last month.
“Never in my career have I been able to go to the racetrack every weekend with the opportunity to win,” Almirola said in a news release. “We have done that at every race so far this season.”
Almirola joined Stewart-Haas Racing in 2018 after a six-year stint at Richard Petty Motorsports.
Seven races into the 2019 season, Almirola is ranked fifth in driver’s standings, 85 points above the playoff cutline.
At Bristol Motor Speedway, the next stop on the circuit, Almirola has earned three top-10 finishes in 19 starts at the speedway. His highest finish at the track, third, came in the March 2014 race.
Almirola’s first career Cup Series top-10 came at the .533-mile paved track in 2008.
The Food City 500 will televised live on FOX Sports 1, Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
