Brad Keselowski tops first Kansas practice

KANSAS CITY, Kan — Brad Keselowski paced the field in opening Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice Friday (October 18) for the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Keselowski, the spring 2019 Kansas race winner, posted a lap time of 30.595 seconds (176.499 MPH), making 27 total circuits during the 50-minute practice.

Aric Almirola, Daniel Suarez, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top five in the practice session.

Defending MENCS champion Joey Logano was 13th fastest.

Chase Elliott, the 2018 Hollywood Casino 400 winner, was 23rd quickest.

Jimmie Johnson, a three-time Kansas winner, made the most circuits of the 40 competitors entered with 55 laps. He was 24th overall.

Qualifying for the Hollywood Casino 400 will take place Saturday.

The Hollywood Casino 400 from Kansas Speedway will be televised Sunday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
