Carson Kvapil wins first career O’Reilly Series race at Indianapolis

SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Carson Kvapil wins the Pennzoil 250 for his first career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

He finally captures his first career win in start 64 after four runners-up results beforehand.

In his first race back in the No. 1 entry for the rest of the season, Kvapil started in second place.

He contended inside the top five for the whole event and finished insde the top five in both stages.

In the early portion of the final stage, Kvapil had to chase down his teammate Ross Chastain for the lead. Halfway through the stage, he powered passed him for the lead.

From there the only competition for him was another teammate, Justin Allgaier.

When Kvapil passed Chastain for the lead his gap back to Allgaier was just under three seconds. But the series vet utilized the draft to perfection to close to within four car lengths by the white flag.

Fortunately for Kvapil, he never got any closer.

Kvapil crossed the yard of bricks for his first career win and provided his crew chief Rodney Childers with their first win together.

Childers now joins fellow crew chief Adam Stevens as the only two to win both the Cup Series and the O’Reilly Series events at the track.

JR Motorsports also made personal history today. They had the last laugh after Haas Factory Team dominated the earlier qualifying as the team captured their first 1-2-3-4 in team history.

The Top Ten & Notable Events

The win vaulted Carson Kvapil up to second in the regular season standings and locks him into the chase with only two races remaining in the regular season.

Justin Allgaier finished second and has already clinched the 2026 O’Reilly Series regular season championship.

Ross Chastain led a race-high 31 laps in his third-place finish. Chase Elliott made his second and final appearance in the series for the season and finished fourth for the history-making team result.

William Sawalich surged late in the run to capture his second consecutive top five finish for his sixth total of the year.

His rookie teammate, Brent Crews, suffered damage in Friday’s practice and suffered from a mistake in pit road. Those setbacks were not enough to bar him from the top ten as he crossed the line in sixth.

Corey Day finished seventh and passed polesitter Sheldon Creed for the position with under three laps to go. Both drivers have clinched chase spots as a result.

Finally, Brandon Jones and Austin Hill rounded out the top ten from ninth and tenth places.

Jeremy Clements qualified third and won the first stage for his first stage win of the season. He finished three laps down in 37th after a late pit stop killed his great day.

Rajah Caruth ran his tenth and final race of the season for Jordan Anderson Racing. He won the second stage after opting to stay out on older tires after Garrett Smithley’s caution with six laps remaining in the stage.

Lastly four others have secured their spots in the postseason. Jesse Love, Corey Day, Autin Hill, and Brandon Jones have also clinched their tickets to the chase.
