Cole Custer continues Homestead-Miami success with pole

Cole Custer added to his standout NASCAR Xfinity Series stats at Homestead-Miami Speedway with a pole for the race Saturday.

Custer will lead playoff drivers John Hunter Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill and Sammy Smith to the green flag. Brett Moffitt, Riley Herbst, Josh Berry, Sheldon Creed (playoffs) and Parker Kligerman round out the top-10 starters.

Chandler Smith (12th), Sam Mayer (13th) and Daniel Hemric (15th) round out where the playoff drivers will start.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Newman will start in row 12, in 23rd and 24th respectively.

Custer is the favorite, just by his record alone.

In his three starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway as a full-time Xfinity Series driver, he has:

• Started second and won after leading 184 of 200 laps in 2017 (swept stages)
• Started on the pole and finished second after leading 95 of 200 laps in 2018 (swept stages)
• Started and finished second after leading 15 laps in 2019 (second in stage one)
