Shorter races at Chicago Street Course in 2024

CHICAGO — Organizers with the Chicago Street Course said Friday the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series will run shorter races there in 2024.

The NASCAR Cup Series will run the Grant Park 165, while the Xfinity Series will run The Loop 110.

The Cup Series race will be 75 laps, 25 laps shorter than last year’s Grant Park 220. The Xfinity Series race will be 50 laps, five laps shorter than last year’s The Loop 121.

Due to heavy rain and logistics constraints, the Xfinity Series race ended after 25 of 55 laps. Heavy rain and looming darkness ended the Cup Series race after 78 of 100 laps.

Cole Custer led every lap and won the Xfinity Series race. Shane Van Gisbergen won the Cup Series race.
