Ty Gibbs gets 2 crew members from Erik Jones

Two crew members from Erik Jones’ team will service Ty Gibbs’ car this Sunday in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR suspended front tire changer Jackson Gibbs and jackman Braxton Brannon after a tire came loose from Ty Gibbs’ car in turn three at Las Vegas.

Thomas Hatcher will fill in for Jackson Gibbs while Nate McBride will fill in for Brannon.

Erik Jones will get David O’Dell as his jackman and JGR development crew member Austin Maloney as his front tire changer.

David O’Dell filled in on Martin Truex Jr.’s crew after he had a tire come loose at Auto Club Speedway this year. O’Dell was also the jackman for Travis Pastrana in this year’s Daytona 500 and for Christopher Bell last year.

Joe Gibbs Racing trains and leases out pit crews to Legacy Motor Club. That deal was already in place before LMC announced their switch to Toyota for 2024.

JGR also let John Hunter Nemechek drive LMC’s No. 42 Chevrolet this Sunday. Next season, Nemechek will drive the No. 42 full-time.

In May, Ty Gibbs’ crew won the NASCAR Cup Series pit crew challenge at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The crew consisted of:

  • Front tire changer Blake Houston
  • Tire carrier Jacob Holmes
  • Rear tire changer Michael Hicks
  • Jackman Derrell Edwards
  • Fueler Peyton Moore

After Christopher Bell made the playoffs, Gibbs’ crew began working with Bell. Now, Gibbs’ regular crew consists of:

  • Front tire changer Jackson Gibbs
  • Tire carrier Nick McBeath
  • Rear tire changer Kevon Jackson
  • Jackman Braxton Brannon
  • Fueler Ian Anderson
