Cole Custer ties Ryan Blaney, Ryan Newman on NXS wins list

Cole Custer’s victory in the Alsco 300 Friday night (July 12) at Kentucky Speedway tied the driver with Ryan Blaney and Ryan Newman with seven total wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Custer, who led the final 46 circuits, picked up a series-high fifth win of the year.

“You don’t get cars like that very often,” Custer said. “It is pretty unbelievable to win once the last two years and then this year we have won five.

“It is a testament to our team and the guys made great adjustments throughout the night and knew exactly how the track was going to change. I just can’t thank them enough.”

Blaney, Custer and Newman are all tied for 50th overall on the Xfinity Series wins list.

The next drivers ahead on the wins list at eight victories apiece are Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The next race for the series is the Lakes Region 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway scheduled for next Saturday, July 20.
