Hamlin continues his great form as he grabs pole at Pocono

LONG POND, PA. — Denny Hamlin continues his great form of late as he nabs his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series pole at Pocono for The Great American Getaway 400.

This is his fifth pole of the season and now his 51st of his career. The pole also extends his record amount of pole positions at the track to six.

Hamlin will have the best starting position to achieve his first ever three-race win streak in the Cup Series. Kyle Larson will have something to say about that as he starts to his outside in second.

Daniel Suarez will third for the second time in three events. While Denny’s spring has been the best, Suarez has had an amazing spring himself.

Ty Gibbs will join Suarez on the second row in fourth as he returns to the place where he started his first Cup Series event.

The events defending winner, Chase Briscoe, rounds out the top five in fifth. Chris Buescher will start alongside him in sixth.

Legacy Motor Club comprises the fourth row. Fresh off his amazing second place at his home track a week ago, Erik Jones will start seventh. John Hunter Nemechek will make his highest start of the season from eighth.

William Byron makes his second consecutive ninth-placed start. He is joined by Ryan Blaney who starts tenth.

Notable Events and Entrants

Christopher Bell enters this weekend with a broken wrist after his 63g-force crash last week at Michigan. He will tough it out and start 22nd.

Brad Keselowski will start at the rear of the field after his qualifying run came to an early end. The driver of the No. 6 suffered an engine fault as he ran down a cylinder as he came up to speed.

His fellow RFK Racing team of Ryan Preece will also make huge adjustments before the race as they ran uncharacteristically slow in the session in 35th.

Bubba Wallace crashed out of qualifying after he spun into the inside wall. He will have to go to a backup car as his primary car is toast. He will start at the very tail-end of the field.

Casey Mears will make his 496th NASCAR start here at Pocono. He inches one race closer to the elusive 500 starts club. Daniel Dye rounds out the open entrants as he returns to the Live Fast Motorsports No. 78.

All 38 entries made the show. Below is the full starting lineup for the NASCAR Cup Series at Pocono Raceway.
