Early wreck involves top contenders, Playoff hopeful at Michigan
It did not take long for chaos to unfold in Stage Two as on the Lap 36 restart to start the stage, seven drivers were involved in a wreck exiting turn two.
Exiting turn two, Ty Gibbs bumped Myatt Snider, who slid into Brandon Brown. Brown hit the wall and Snider spun, which collected Austin Cindric, Daniel Hemric, Bubba Wallace, Joe Graf Jr and Justin Haley.
Brown, who entered Saturday’s race 52 points behind the playoff cutline, fell out of the race due to violating the Damaged Vehicle Policy.
Cindric, who won Stage One, also retired from the race. His crew fixed the car but smoke billowed from the car when he tried to get up to speed.
Hemric and Graf also retired from the race due to the wreck.
Snider also retired after not meeting minimum speed. He received a two-lap penalty before retiring after his fuel man worked on the car while fueling it.
Wallace and Haley continued with minor damage.
