“The phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s life) takes on a new meaning with moments like these. I’m disappointed to share that I won’t be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture,” Muniz said on social media Thursday (Aug. 28).

Muniz said he fell from the top of a ladder in his backyard while changing batteries in a home security camera.

“While I’m gutted to miss the races, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. I feel for my team, who’ve poured their hearts into this season, and I’m thankful for Ford Performance and their unwavering support,” Muniz said.

Muniz said his doctor estimates a “six-to-eight week recovery” and plans to be back in the driver’s seat as soon as he receives clearance.

The 39-year-old driver for Reaume Brothers Racing has raced in the first 18 races of the year, notching a season-high 10th-place finish in the season opener at Daytona in February.

“Currently, there is no timeline for his return, our focus is on a speedy recovery and competing together again soon,” the Reaume Brothers Racing team said in part.

The team named Mason Maggio as his replacement for Darlington.
