Geoff’s Journal: See you at the racetrack this month!
Itโs been about three months since โAll of Itโ was released and it’s been unbelievable.
It’s been unbelievable to see how many people have been talking about the book and sharing their thoughts on it. People seem to be enjoying it.
I never thought I would write a book, let alone have people interested in reading it.ย
Telling ‘All of It’

A book is information. You write a book to tell people something they donโt know about.ย It’s pretty obvious to my wife Lori and I to inform people about things they didnโt know before.
My doctor recently told me he didnโt realize I had done a lot of the things I shared about in the book. Itโs pretty enjoyable hearing people talk about the stories from it.
My dreams included wanting to be a race driver, win at Daytona and race against my hero Richard Petty. I never dreamed in a million years I would be the author of a book. It blows my mind.
I think my parents would be shocked to know I wrote a book. If they were still around, theyโd probably ask me โWhy didnโt you say this?โ or โDonโt you remember doing this?โ
My mom would probably say, โGeoffrey, I didnโt know you did that, you shouldnโt have done that!โ
My mother would be the most opinionated about it. I think she would have been proud. Same as my dad. They were proud of all their kids.
On the Road Again

I traveled all my life, and Iโve been doing a lot this year. I’ve been to Daytona, Atlanta and Martinsville. And I’m not done yet.
I am looking forward to seeing my two boys, granddaughters, lots of friends, and of course, the race fans!
I miss the people. Once you get to the track and see all the people, the atmosphere, the track, the excitement, we have a lot of fun! And I hope the race fans have fun with us.
Starting this weekend at Darlington, Lori and I will be at the next three NASCAR race weekends. That means we’ll also be at North Wilkesboro and Charlotte.
All three of those tracks were important in my racing career.
At Darlington, I won the TransSouth 200 in 1982 in the NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series (now the Xfinity Series), and it helped me get a Cup ride two days later.
Without winning that race, the Cup ride wouldnโt have happened.
At North Wilkesboro in 1994, I was the last guy to lap the whole field and win the race.
And of course, Charlotte, I won races there and battled with the late Dale Earnhardt, which led to the meeting with Bill France and our car owners. Itโs also the home of Hendrick Motorsports.ย
At all three race weekends, stop by and say hi if you see us! Iโll be doing various public appearances at all of the tracks. Iโm happy to sign memorabilia, and of course, I can personalize your book. Plus, weโll have the book on the bobsled there as well as the 1987 record album/CDโs that NASCAR racers sang on.
This weekend at Darlington, weโll be at the museum a couple of times for autographs, so stop by if youโre around!
Iโll also be the grand marshal for the Darlington parade Saturday, which is pretty neat. Iโve never been to one of the parades, so Iโm sure it will be great.
Iโll be out and about throughout the weekend, but if you see me, just holler, Iโll have my backpack full of books!
Weโll have fun retelling the stories. I love to talk, which is strange. I was shy when I was younger, but the Lord opened my voice up.
Also at Charlotte, Iโll be at the Hendrick Motorsports open house, right after Dale Earnhardt Jr. finishes his appearance. My understanding is that all the drivers that can be there, will be there. It should be a great time.
As always, if you arenโt at the track the next few weekends, you can get the book at major retailers, and a special autographed copy at www.bodinebook.com.
