Greg Van Alst to scale back ARCA Menards Series team

After two crashes in the last three weeks, Greg Van Alst is scaling back his ARCA Menards Series team and will run part-time instead.
Van Alst won the season-opening race at Daytona. After this, he committed to running the full ARCA Menards Series schedule.
While he finished 10th at Phoenix, he also crashed and finished 32nd at Talladega. Then, after finishing 10th at Kansas, he crashed and finished 22nd at Charlotte.
“I saw my volunteer crew scrambling to give up their everyday life so I could continue my racing dream. Then, I took a moment when we were all stressing out whether or not we were going to be able to repair our cars in time for the upcoming races or whether we would even make it to Berlin Raceway this weekend – that our priorities needed to change,” Van Alst said.
“Without a doubt, this is one of the hardest decisions of my life.”
Van Alst will still run the July 8 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. However, he and his team will not compete for the ARCA Menards Series championship.
The team plans to release their revised ARCA schedule “in due course.”
Van Alst’s first win, at Daytona in February, came in his 32nd ARCA start. He debuted in the series in 2002 at Kentucky Speedway.
