Hurricane Isaias’ Outer Bands Wash Out NASCAR Cup, O’Reilly Series Action
CONCORD, N.C. — The Saturday action for the NASCAR Cup Series and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series has been canceled due to rain from Hurricane Isaias.
The NASCAR qualifying metric will the starting lineup for the Bank of America 400 with the O’Reilly Series race to be held after the Cup Series on Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET.

On a day riddled with rain, NASCAR chose to end the on-track activities shortly after the rain started. Because of the cancellation, the current Chase leader Kyle Larson is set to lead the field to green on Sunday.
While the rain set in and cancelled today’s action, tomorrow looks better.
The national weather service predicts a 30% chance of rain by 1:00 p.m. ET tomorrow and an even friendlier 10% by the scheduled start time of 3:00 p.m. ET for the Cup Series race.
Notable Starting Positions
last week’s winner at Las Vegas, Chase Briscoe, will join Larson on the front row from second for the main event.
Then, Tyler Reddick claims the third starting position with Ryan Blaney to his outside on the second row from fourth.
Austin Cindric looks to extend his current-best intermediate top five streak to three as he will start fifth. William Byron will start on the third row from sixth looking for his first win on the year back at his home track.
Joey Logano and Bubba Wallace comprise of the fourth row from eighth and ninth.
Finally, Chase Elliott and Shane van Gisbergen complete the top ten. van Gisbergen is the highest starting non-Chase driver as the New Zealander is fresh off an impressive top ten result on an oval.
Seven Chase drivers are slated to start outside of the top ten. Many of which won’t have to start too far behind the mark.
The new owner of a mail truck, Carson Hocevar, and Denny Hamlin share the sixth row from 11th and 12th.
Chris Buescher, who failed prerace tech twice, will start 13th with fellow Chase driver Ty Gibbs besides him from 14th.
New father, Daniel Suarez will start behind those four in 15th. Then Christopher Bell looks to rebound from his power-steering incident from 17th. Finally, Ryan Preece has the most ground to cover in 24th.
All 39 entries will make the field. Three open cars made the short-haul to Charlotte for the weekend.
Corey Heim is back in the 23XI Racing No. 67 entry to attempt to capture his third victory on the season.
Then, Gray Gaulding will officially make his first Cup Series start since Gateway in 2023 in the Garage 66 No. 66 entry. Finally, BJ McLeod is back but this time in the NY Racing No. 44 entry instead of his own.
