Hurricane Isaias rains out O’Reilly Series Qualifying: Kvapil on Charlotte pole

CONCORD, N.C. — The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying sessions were canceled due to rain from Hurricane Isaias in Charlotte.

The series was originally slated to run their practice and qualifying sessions around 10:30 a.m. ET. But, with the bleak forecast, NASCAR decided to push it up two hours in an attempt to avoid the incoming rain.

Unfortunately, mother nature arrived earlier than anticipated. Now, the lineup will be set by the metric and the series will lose out on crucial track time in the Chase.

With heavier and steadier rain set to take place for the rest of the day, the 4:05 p.m. ET start time is in question. As of right now, the scheduled race time will remain.

Kvapil will start on the front row alongside last week’s winner Corey Day. Those two look to put on another dazzling performance on the intermediate track here at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Then, Jesse Love and Brent Crews comprise of the second row from third and fourth.

Sam Mayer will start from fifth in his throwback pink Dale Earnhardt paint scheme. He is joined by Taylor Gray on the third row in sixth.

Two more Chase drivers make up the fourth row. Austin Hill will start seventh with Chase leader Sheldon Creed to his outside from eighth.

Finally, William Sawalich and Rajah Caruth round out the top ten starters from the fifth row.

Notable Entrants

Eight of the 12 O’Reilly Series Chase drivers start inside the top ten. The remaining four have varying degrees of work they will endure in order to join their fellow Chase competitors within the top ten during the race.

Sammy Smith leads the last four drivers with his 13th starting position. Parker Retzlaff will start a row behind him from 16th.

Then, the two that tangled together last weekend in Las Vegas start further behind.

Justin Allgaier will start 23rd with Brandon Jones having the most work to do out of all the Chase drivers from 28th.

38 cars entered the Blue Cross NC 300 and all 38 entrants will start the race whether its today or tomorrow.
