Dale Earnhardt’s grandson Jeffrey Earnhardt will pilot the No. 3 car for Richard Childress Racing at Talladega Superspeedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the team announced Tuesday, Apr. 12.

The Apr. 23 race will be Earnhardt’s first time racing the No. 3 in any of NASCAR’s top-three touring series.

“What a dream come true,” Earnhardt said in a news release. “The chance to be behind the wheel of the No. 3 car for RCR, that my pawpaw made famous, has long been a dream of mine and now it’s finally happening.”

Earnhardt has races in four Xfinity Series races this season with a season-high finish of 13th at Atlanta.
