JJ Yeley to attempt Daytona 500 with NY Racing
NY Racing named J.J. Yeley as their driver for the Daytona 500 as they try to make it into the race for the first time in two years.
Yeley will drive the No. 44 100 Coconut Water Chevrolet. Greg Biffle was reportedly slated to drive the car. However, he posted a statement on social media earlier in the week shooting that down.

Yeley joins the following drivers who will try to get into the 500 with an open entry:
- Kaz Grala: No. 36 Ruedebusch Ford – Front Row Motorsports
- David Ragan: No. 60 BuildSubmarines.com Ford – RFK Racing
- Anthony Alfredo: No. 62 Death Wish Coffee Chevrolet – Beard Motorsports
- BJ McLeod: No. 78 BJ McLeod Motorsports Chevrolet
- Jimmie Johnson: No. 84 Carvana Toyota – Legacy Motor Club
Only four of those drivers will get into the 500. Two of them can get in by being the fastest of the six in qualifying Wednesday.
The others will have to wait until their Duel race to lock into the 500.
