Joey Logano leads opening Clash practice at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Joey Logano was quickest in opening Advance Auto Parts Clash practice at Daytona International Speedway. Logano posted a fast lap of 45.735 seconds / 196.786 mph. Jimmie Johnson was second quickest (45.761/196.674) followed by Austin Dillon in third (45.773/196.622). Chase Elliott was fourth (45.783/196.580) and Kevin Harvick rounded out the five (45.799/196.511).

Denny Hamlin was the fastest Toyota driver in eighth.

With approximately 40 minutes remaining in practice, Chase Elliott moved up the track and was clipped by Ryan Newman. Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin were also collected in the incident.

NASCAR on FOX reported that Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott will be going to a backup car. Harvick and Newman were able to drive away from the incident.

The Cup Series will return to the track at 3:05 p.m. ET for another practice session.

The Advance Auto Parts Clash will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. It will be televised on FOX Sports 1 and broadcasted on the Motor Racing Network.
