Kurt Busch records three straight top-10s after Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Kurt Busch is off to his best start of a season since his first year with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2016. Busch has finished inside the top-10 in each of the last three races so far this season.
“I like the way our team is approaching the season,” Busch said after his seventh-place effort at ISM Raceway. “We know we are going to make a couple of little mistakes here and there, but we gotta go hard now. There’s like no dipping our toe in the shallow end, we just jumped in. And I’m impressed so far.
“We could have been top Chevy again today, (Kyle) Larson got it, so we know we got some work to do though, to crack those top-three and get in contention for a win.”
The 2004 Champion currently sits tenth in points, 38 points behind leader Joey Logano.
The NASCAR Goes West tour concludes next weekend at Auto Club Speedway, where Busch says that the track will chew up tires similar to Atlanta and the restarts are going to be wild.
“We’ll just keep chipping away at it, there’s teams that are faster in certain spots of the race, and we just have to tie it all together.”
