Kyle Busch talks expectations of drivers at KBM

CONCORD, N.C. – As rain halted MENCS All-Star practice, Kyle Busch found himself in the media center at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Earlier in the day, two Kyle Busch Motorsports drivers Noah Gragson and Todd Gilliland both said they learned from being at KBM.
The Racing Experts asked Kyle during his time drying off in the media center about the success of his fellow KBM drivers and what are they being taught while being under the KBM banner.
“What aren’t we teaching them,” Busch said jokingly in the media center. “I don’t know, there’s so many things that we talk about in our team meetings and defriefs and such. It’s hard to tell you what all that is because there’s a price people pay for that and that’s being at Kyle Busch Motorsports.
“It’s just a lot of mentorship and tutoring and things like that. From me, from Rooty, from the crew chiefs we have there. We’ve got a lot of experience in crew chiefs and stuff. We’re always continuing to strive to get better and make our stuff faster.”
Busch made it known that his young drivers aren’t perfect and there’s certainly things they need to work on.
“Noah (Gragson) has certainly come on this year and we’re certainly real proud of what he’s got going on right now. I said weeks ago he was kind of stuck third to sixth and now he’s stuck first to second. It’s a good problem for him to have and we’ll keep trying to race with him.
“Todd (Gilliland), this is his first mile and half start in the trucks and I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s got. He’s been fast so far. We’ve certainly got to clean up some things that he’s been having some issues with last year and this year. He had another problem today so we’ll get down to the bottom of that and figure all that out to help continue to make our guys stronger.”
