AVONDALE, Ariz. — A pair of Hendrick Motorsports teammates will lead the field to the green flag in the Season Finale 500 Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.

Kyle Larson’s lap time of 26.116 seconds earned the driver his second pole of 2021 and 10th of his career. Chase Elliott — the defending race winner and 2020 champion — qualified second.

“Good to get off to a good start, good pit stall selection,” Larson said. “Looking forward to tomorrow.”

Larson tied Joe Nemechek, Cotton Owens, and LeeRoy Yarbrough for 66th all-time on the series’ poles list.

Phoenix marked only the seventh time this year the Cup Series featured qualifying as a part of its race weekend.

William Byron, Ryan Blaney and Kurt Busch rounded out the Top-5 qualifiers.

Joe Gibbs Racing drivers and championship contenders Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. qualified sixth and 12th respectively.

The Cup Series Championship Race will be televised live on NBC at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
