Kyle Larson propels to points lead after Kansas win
Kyle Larson’s win in the AdventHealth 400 Sunday propelled the Hendrick Motorsports driver atop the NASCAR Cup Series point standings.

Larson, who started on the pole, swept the opening two stages and led 221 of the 267 laps, earning his third victory of 2025.
Entering the race, Larson trailed his HMS teammate William Byron by 13 points. Byron, who finished 24th, did not collect stage points at Kansas.
Larson now has a 34-point advantage over his teammate entering the All-Star Race, securing the top stop for at least the next two calendar weeks ahead of the Coca-Cola 600.
“I just think it’s really cool,” Larson said of leading the points. “I think it’s good for our team. I think it’s good for our sport. I think it’s good for racing that the Cup Series point leader is competing in the Indy 500 for the second year in a row.
“I would say last year was a goal of mine. This year I didn’t really think about it. But I do think it puts even more of a spotlight on us and our sport.”
Larson lost the regular season championship by one point last season.
The regular season champion after 26 races earns an additional 15 playoff points โ the point equivalent to three victories โ to their overall playoff point total entering the playoffs.
The next points race will be the Coca-Cola 600, scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
