Layne Riggs earns third consecutive Truck Series race pole at IRP

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Layne Riggs earns his third consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series pole of the season for the TSport 200 at IRP.

This is his third pole of the season and his seventh career pole overall.

Riggs has been on a qualifying tear as of late and the short track driver flexes his single-lap muscle once again.

His teammate, and last week’s winner, Chandler Smith will join him on the front row from second. The Front Row Motorsports sweep marks the third of its kind for the team who lives up to their namesake tonight.

Nick Sanchez makes his first Truck Series start of the season in the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports. Even with the long absence, he looked at home and qualified third.

Christian Eckes will join him on the second row from fourth. Eckes is a known threat at short tracks and will look to utilize the multitude of entry points into the corners later on.

Stewart Friesen will start fifth. He is looking for a solid, legal finish after his third place at Indianapolis Raceway Park was taken from him last season.

Kaden Honeycutt will start sixth as the highest qualified Toyota. Then, Connor Mosack will start seventh after he topped the charts in the lone practice session.

Grant Enfinger has never finished lower than 12th at IRP and will start eighth.

Finally, Ty Majeski and Andres Perez de Lara round of the top ten qualifiers from ninth and tenth.

Notable Entries

Conor Daly will make the trip 15 minutes west of his more comfortable Indianapolis Motor Speedway to Indianapolis Raceway Park in the Kaulig RAM free agent No. 25. The Hoosier will start 29th.

Like Sanchez, Harrison Burton also rejoins the field from the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. He will start 23rd in his Tricon Garage No. 5 entry in his first start since 2022.

Four drivers will make their first career Truck Series starts at IRP. Jackson Macenko comes from the sprint car world to Team Reaume’s No. 2 and will start 31st.

Then his teammate in the No. 22, Monty Tipton who has 3 ARCA starts to date, will start 35th.

Cassten Everidge will make his debut from 33rd in the No. 93.

Finally, Nitro Motorsports full-time driver Gavan Boschele will make his debut in the Tricon Garage No. 1 entry and starts the highest of the debutants from 19th.

Justin Carroll and Jonathan Shafer were sent home as only 36 of the 38 entrants were allowed to start at the short track.
