Martin Truex Jr. confirmed Saturday he will return to Joe Gibbs Racing in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Rumors surrounded Truex’s future and the possibility of his retirement. However, the 2017 Cup Series champion confirmed in the Michigan International Speedway media center he is coming back.

Truex will race the JGR No. 19 Toyota as a teammate to Ty Gibbs and Christopher Bell.

JGR and Toyota expect Denny Hamlin will also return. However, the team hasn’t confirmed that yet.

Martin Truex Jr. holds the regular-season championship points lead by 39 points over Hamlin. Truex has three wins, eight top-5 finishes, 12 top-10s and 781 laps led with a series-best average finish of 11.7.

Truex joined JGR in 2019. Since then, they have earned 15 wins, 54 top-5s and 94 top-10s in 166 races. They also made the Championship Four and finished second in points in 2019 and 2021.
