NASCAR: Alex Bowman retiring from full-time racing after 2027
Alex Bowman will retire from full-time NASCAR competition at the end of the 2027 Cup Series season, Hendrick Motorsports announced Thursday (July 23).
Bowman has raced with Hendrick Motorsports full-time since the 2018 season, amassing all eight of his NASCAR Cup wins with HMS.
“I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what’s next, and this feels like the right decision at the right time,” Bowman said in the news release.
“The sport asks a lot of you, and I’ve learned it’s important to listen to your body and make the right choices for yourself.”
Bowman signed a one-year extension with HMS to finish his full-time career with the winningest organization in Cup Series history.
This year, Bowman missed four races after a vertigo diagnosis following an early exit from the Austin race in March.
