NASCAR at Las Vegas 2024: Odds, TV/radio times, playoffs and more info

LAS VEGAS — NASCAR heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the final round before the Championship 4 begins for the Cup and Xfinity Series.
The Round of 8 begins this weekend for the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Last year, Kyle Larson secured his spot in the Championship 4 in this race. The year before, in 2022, Joey Logano went to victory lane and started charting his successful course toward the title.
The last nine editions of the elimination format have seen a driver clinch a spot in the Championship 4 by winning the Round of 8 opener. In four of those instances, including 2022, that driver went on to win the Cup championship:
- Joey Logano: 2022, 2018
- Kyle Larson: 2021
- Jimmie Johnson: 2016

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, it’s different. The winner of the Round of 8 opener has never gone on to win the championship. In fact, only twice has a driver won the Round of 8 opener to get into the driver’s Championship 4:
- Josh Berry: 2022
- Chase Briscoe: 2020
Last year, non-playoff driver Riley Herbst led 103 of 200 laps and won by a convincing 14.959-second margin over then-playoff driver John Hunter Nemechek in second.
