Hill was named the replacement for Kyle Busch when initial news broke he would miss the Coca-Cola 600 because of โ€œsevere illness.โ€

When the news broke of Buschโ€™s sudden passing, Hill remained in the driverโ€™s seat for Charlotte, and RCR announced the No. 8 team would be renumbered to the No. 33.

Hill finished the Coca-Cola 600 27th, one lap down Sunday night in the No. 33.
