NASCAR: The Clash returns to Daytona in 2027

The pre-season exhibition Clash for the NASCAR Cup Series will return to Daytona International Speedway in 2027.

NASCAR announced Tuesday, Aug. 4 the race will return to the 2.5-mile speedway on Saturday, Feb. 13, kicking off the NASCAR season.

Wheatley American Vodka will be the entitlement sponsor of the race.

“The pairing of a fan-favorite event like The Clash with a premier vodka brand in Wheatley American Vodka is the perfect way to welcome home one of NASCAR’s most beloved traditions to open Speedweeks Presented by AdventHealth for 2027,” Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher said in a news release.

The Daytona 500 will be held a week later on Sunday, Feb. 21.

The first Clash was held at Daytona in 1979, and the race continued at the superspeedway through 2020. Erik Jones won the last Clash on the 2.5-mile configuration.

In 2021, the race was moved to the Daytona Road Course.

The race was also held at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and Bowman Gray Stadium.
