NASCAR to move incorrectly-placed restart zone at Phoenix

AVONDALE, ARIZ. — NASCAR will move the restart zone at Phoenix Raceway to its correct position for the rest of Championship Weekend.

Officials said they realized the mistake before the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. However, they decided to let it be for the race.

The Truck Series race featured 12 cautions for 77 laps – 43% of the 179-lap race originally scheduled for 150 laps.

Championship runner-up Grant Enfinger said post-race, “With this format and moving the restart zone, we’ve manufactured it, in a way, so I don’t know why it’s surprising. It happens because these are very hard to pass with. Us truckers got a bad rap, we had too many green-white-checkereds.”

The restart zone will go back to where it was for the Xfinity and Cup Series races Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
