NXS “Beef. It’s what’s for Dinner” 300 Preview

The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to action on Saturday afternoon with the Beef. It’s what’s for Dinner 300 at Daytona Int’l Speedway. Leading the field to green will be the defending Series Champion, albeit in a new ride, Daniel Hemric, now together with Kaulig Racing.

Hemric laid down a fast lap time of 49.221 seconds to take the pole position. He’ll line up alongside Austin Hill in the Richard Childress Racing No. 21 Camaro. In total, 38 cars will take the green flag tonight, 33 of which qualified in by time and the other five by 2021 owner’s points.

The last to make it in on time was Myatt Snider who ran a 50.221 second lap, a full second off of the eventual pole time. Under Snider, provisionals went to Sam Mayer, Jeremy Clements, Kyle Sieg, Shane Lee and Ryan Truex. The unfortunate cars that will not be racing tonight include the No.’s 08, 90, 99, 91, 33, 47, 77, 52, 74.

Last season, 2020 Series Champion Austin Cindric was able to back up his title with a Daytona victory. This year, there won’t be a Team Penske ride in the field as Cindric has graduated to the Team Penske Cup Series program. The only previous winner in the field is Noah Gragson, the 2020 winner.
