O’Reilly Series: Ross Chastain on pole at Dover

DOVER, Del. — In the midst of his triple-duty weekend, Ross Chastain captures the NASCAR O’Reilly Series pole at Dover Motor Speedway for the Bet Rivers 200.

This is his fourth career O’Reilly Series pole. He snapped a six year pole drought after clinching his first pole in the series since Richmond in 2020.

The concrete surface at Dover cleans itself as more cars take to its banking which resulted in faster times for those slated to run late in the session.

The rest of the top five took good advantage of that known fact to secure their high grid slots.

Brandon Jones will start alongside Chastain on the front row in second. Corey Day was not scared of Miles the Monster as he will start third in his first ever start at the track.

His fellow Hendrickcars.com sponsor-mate Rajah Caruth will start with him on the second row in fourth.

Taylor Gray will round out the top five in fifth after he set the fastest time in their practice session prior to qualifying.

Sam Mayer will start sixth with Carson Kvapil, who returns to his primary seat at JR Motorsports, in seventh.

William Sawalich will start eighth. His Toyota Supra had the best ten-lap average in practice.

Harrison Burton showed top ten speed in practice and converted to a top ten starting position in ninth. Finally, Jesse Love rounds out the top ten in tenth.

Justin Allgaier had a slow start to his day as he was unable to take advantage of the majority of the practice session. He chose to avoid the traffic and crafted his setup towards the race run. The two-time Dover winner will start 13th.

38 entrants competed for 38 starting spots. Therefore, no drivers were sent home. David Starr did not compete in the session due to an engine issue.
