Power fastest in IndyCar practice, some surprises up front

Will Power was fastest in the lone practice for the IndyCar’s at Iowa Speedway Friday with his other Pesnke teammates finishing third and seventh.

Power is still looking for his first win at Iowa Speedway in over 10 attempts at the track, could this weekend be the time Power gets it done?

Another surprise was Jimmie Johnson. Johnson, who had never turned a lap at Iowa Speedway, placed ninth in practice, just behind his teammates who were higher in the top 10.

Foyt Racing’s tough season continues as both the No.4 Kellet and the No. 14 Kirkwood were the two slowest cars. following the loss of the No.11 team, Foyt hasn’t gained any speed, Foyt still looking for there first podium and win at Iowa.

Fan favorite Conor Daly who placed 2nd on the practice charts for Ed Carpenter Racing. Daly who raced for many teams at Iowa, won the Pole at the 2020 Race for Carlin, hopes to contribute all the speed into a decent qualifying run for tomorrow’s race.

Multiple top contenders struggled in Practice as well. Drivers who placed outside the top 15 were Castroneves, Rossi, Carpenter, Grosjean and Pagenaud.
