Rain cancels NASCAR Cup Series Qualifying again: Logano on Kansas Pole

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Rain once again cancels both on-track NASCAR Cup Series activities for the second straight weekend.

The NASCAR qualifying metric has set Joey Logano to start from the pole for the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.

The intermittent rain started as a drizzle, but the second wave that hit was a downpour which settled the track trying debate then and there.

Beforehand, only four cars were able to set a lap time during the minute practice session. The polesitter was one of them along with Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, and Alex Bowman who is spotting a fan designed paint scheme this weekend.

Logano looks to continue his amazing Chase run here at Kansas and now has the best viewpoint to do just that.

He is joined by the new Chase leader, Kyle Larson, on the front row from second.

It seems the metric is setting up the drivers with the current-most Chase momentum up front. Christopher Bell will start third.

Carson Hocevar will only have three other drivers in his bid to fight to the front. He will share the second row with Bell from fourth.

Then, Ty Gibbs is a water bottle throw away from Hocevar once again as he will start just behind him from fifth.

His teammate Denny Hamlin will share the third row with him in sixth.

Bubba Wallace was the first driver to win the fall Kansas race in the next-gen era. He will look to replicate that success from seventh. William Byron will start alongside him in eighth.

Ryan Preece will start ninth after his top ten day at Bristol. Finally, the lone non-Chase contender who will start inside the top ten is Josh Berry from tenth.

Notable Entrants

Nine Chase drivers occupy the top ten which means seven more will start outside the top ten.

Austin Cindric and Chris Buescher will start the closest towards the top ten of the bunch. They will share the sixth row from 11th and 12th.

New dad Daniel Suarez will start 14th. Then Tyler Reddick will start 15th as the most recent Kansas Speedway winner.

Chase Elliott will line up 18th as the races defending winner. His fellow Chase, Chase Briscoe, will start three rows further back from 23rd.

Finally, the Chase driver with the most to gain is Ryan Blaney. He will start 25th after he got caught up in a hurricane last week at Bristol led to a DNF.

Only the 36-charterd entries entered the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. Therefore, nobody was sent home.
