Weather cancels Truck Series Qualifying at Kansas: Sanchez on Pole

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Nick Sanchez will start from the pole for the Race to Stop Suicide 200 from Kansas Speedway.

This is the second consecutive race where NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying has been canceled due to weather.

Sanchez looks to maintain the Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 tremendous opening Chase momentum from Tristian McKee’s solid performance at Bristol here on the front row at Kansas.

This will be his third Truck Series start of the season and his second straight race ran as well.

He is joined by last weeks winner Jake Garcia on the front row. Garcia opened the Chase with his non-Chase driver upset win for his first career victory.

Finally, the first Chase drivers occupy the second row. Gio Ruggiero will start third with his Tricon Garage teammate Kaden Honeycutt from fourth.

Another Tricon truck rounds out the top five starters. Brent Crews jumps back into the seat of a truck and will start fifth.

Stewart Friesen will start from sixth. Then, Leland Honeyman Jr will start one position behind his boss in seventh. He will make the first of what will become four starts for Halmar Friesen Racing’s No. 62 entry to nearly round out the season.

Chase driver Ty Majeski will start eighth and share the fourth row with Honeyman.

Then, Justin Haley will start from ninth in the fifth row. Haley comes off Kaulig Racing and RAM’s best finish together of fourth place at Bristol.

Finally, Chase driver Grant Enfinger rounds out the top ten from tenth.

Notable Entrants

Half of the Chase field missed out on top ten starting positions due to the rain. While they start outside the top ten, most of them will not have to make up too much ground to find themselves back inside.

Chase drivers Ben Rhodes, Daniel Hemric, Tyler Ankrum, and Chandler Smith start from 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th respectively.

It’s current Chase leader Layne Riggs who has a lot of work to do out of them all. After a turbulent Bristol where Riggs finished outside of the top-25, he will start 22nd at Kansas Speedway.

Finally, Christian Eckes has the most ground to cover from 25th.

Toni Breidinger replaces Dawson Sutton in the Rackley-WAR No. 26 this weekend as Sutton focuses on his late model career. She will start 17th.

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series regular Brennan Poole will start from 19th in the highly competitive Spire Motorsports No. 7 entry.

Conor Daly rejoins the Truck Series fun as the RAM free-agent No. 25 driver. he will start 24th.
