Ryan Blaney awarded pole after rain cancels Cup Series qualifying at North Wilkesboro

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Ryan Blaney has been awarded the NASCAR Cup Series pole for the Window World 400 at North Wilkesboro Speedway after rain cancels the session.

NASCAR opted to prioritize practice time over qualifying for their first points race at the speedway in three decades. With that decision, the NASCAR Metric system was utilized to set the lineup.

Ryan Blaney will only start one row ahead of his In-Season Challenge matchup, Christopher Bell. Bell will slot into third.

Carson Hocevar will share the row with Bell from fourth. The duo traded a little paint in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event already and do not have to go far to find each other for more.

Tyler Reddick will round out the top five from fifth. Erik Jones will start alongside of him in sixth.

Toyota will have their fifth and final top ten starter Denny Hamlin starting seventh. Then, Shane van Gisbergen looks to further cement his career best oval weekend as he will start from the eighth position.

Chris Buescher will start ninth and Chase Elliott will complete his fourth North Wilkesboro Speedway start from tenth.

His ISC matchup, Todd Gilliland, will line up only a few rows behind him in 18th.

Former all-star winners Joey Logano and Kyle Larson will start 11th and 27th. Bubba Wallace and Chase Briscoe will join Larson as the Chase contenders who start deep in the field for Sunday’s event.

Chad Finchum is the lone open entry for the event which means all 37 entries qualified for the race.

Below is the full starting lineup for the Window World 400 from North Wilkesboro Speedway.
