Ryan Preece will serve as a reserve driver for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2022, the team announced Wednesday (Jan. 6).

Preece will drive in 12 races this season across NASCAR’s three national-touring series; two in the Cup Series, three in the Xfinity Series, and seven in the Truck Series.

“This is a unique setup, but I feel like it provides me with the best opportunity to win races and contribute to a championship-caliber team while expanding my racing experience,” Preece said.

Preece previously competed full-time in the Cup Series the last three seasons for JTG-Daugherty Racing, earning 2 Top-5 finishes and 9 Top-10 finishes.

The 31-year-old driver won in his Truck Series debut last year at Nashville.

In the Cup Series, Preece will race the May 1 Dover event and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte.
