Ryan Sieg close to another top-10 finish for RSS Racing
Before Justin Allgaier suddenly blew a tire and changed the whole outcome of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race Saturday at Phoenix, it looked like Ryan Sieg was on his way to another top-10 finish to start the 2024 season.
Sieg seized on the big wreck with 55 laps to go to run just outside of the top-5 with around 50 laps later.
Then, after the caution for Allgaier and an overtime restart, Sieg ended up 12th.
“We just got blocked in. The 48 didn’t go and caused chaos behind us. We got jumbled up with the guys behind us. I thought we were gonna be okay. Then the 8 decided to go 3-wide. He gave us no room and ran us up the track, lost us a couple spots. We made gains but not good enough,” Sieg said.
Sieg had a top-10 finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, possibly setting the tone for the season. However, Phoenix was a bump in the road for Sieg.
“The speed is there. It’s a tough track so we just gotta figure out what I need to run good here. We made gains but it’s a tough one here. It is what it is, I thought we’d have a better day,” he said.
