StarCom Racing hopes to have two cars in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway next month, team manager Derrike Cope recently told The Racing Experts.

The single-car operation currently fields a full-time entry in its No. 00 Chevrolet for Jeffrey Earnhardt.

“There’s certainly been talk about it,” Cope said. “I think our owners want to do that. We have to really get a few more cars in the stable before I think we really can put ourselves out there to even try and do that.

“I just don’t want to undermine the No. 00 and Jeffery’s effort by any means.”

Through three races into the 2018 season, Earnhardt sits 31st in driver’s standings, with a best finish of 21st in the season-opening Daytona 500.

The driver of the possible entry is yet to be determined.

“I’ll be hopeful we can put a car out there by Texas, whether I drive it or not, we’re still just looking at funded drivers that can bring funding to the team and some young drivers that we could build the program on,” said Cope, who last raced in NASCAR’s top series last November at Phoenix with the organization.

SCR is currently in its second season of NASCAR competition and first full time season.

The team made its debut in the Cup Series last October at Kansas Speedway with Cope behind the wheel.
