Supercars star Brodie Kostecki to make NASCAR Cup Series debut
The NASCAR Cup Series is importing another Aussie Supercars star this summer as Brodie Kostecki will make his debut next month.
Kostecki will drive Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 Chevrolet in the August 13 Verizon 200 at the Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit.
In his third full-time Supercars season, Kostecki is breaking out. He won his first two races and sits second in points, -7 points to leader Will Brown.
Next month at Indy won’t be Kostecki’s first taste of NASCAR.
Kostecki’s dad, Andrew, moved them to the U.S. to support his Brodie’s development and fielded a car for him in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (now ARCA East).
Brodie Kostecki made three starts before he turned 16 in 2013. In 2014, at age 16, he made 13 more starts and found more success.
Kostecki won the pole for an East/West combination race at Iowa Speedway in May 2014 and led 35 laps. He won the pole again at Watkins Glen in August and scored a career-best fifth-place finish at Dover in September.
Dover was also one of four races where current NASCAR Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie was Kostecki’s crew chief.

Kostecki’s Cup Series debut comes on the heels of Shane van Gisbergen’s triumphant debut win on the Chicago Street Course earlier this month.
