Ty Gibbs’ fifth-place finish Sunday at Pocono Raceway earned the NASCAR Cup Series rookie his first top-5 finish in the series.

Gibbs started 11th, leading four laps and collecting four stage points throughout the race.

“It’s great to come home in the top-five,” Gibbs said. “Thank you to everybody [who] supports me at JGR [Joe Gibbs Racing] and Toyota, TRD. What a great day.”

Gibbs is the 543rd different driver to score a Top-5 finish in NASCAR’s premier series.

Prior to Pocono, Gibbs’ highest finish in the Cup Series was ninth-place on four occasions.

“We were up front all day. Solid day with good track position,” Gibbs said. “It was nice to stay out of the mess back there. We just have to keep fighting.”

With five races left in the regular season, Gibbs is 19th in driver’s standings. He is -28 points to the playoff cutline behind Michael McDowell in 16th.
