Zane Smith will add five more races to his partial Cup Series schedule in 2023.

Front Row Motorsports announced Tuesday (Feb. 7) Smith will replace Todd Gilliland in select races in the No. 38 Ford, in addition to his No. 36 entry in the Daytona 500.

“I’m fortunate to have a great sponsor of Centene’s stature to step up and support me and Front Row Motorsports as I look to gain racing experience in the NASCAR Cup Series while at the  same time defending the NASCAR Craftsman title,” Smith said in a news release.

Smith will pilot the No. 38 chartered ride at Phoenix in March, Talladega in April, Sonoma in June, Texas in September, and the Charlotte Road Course in October.

Gilliland competed for Rookie-of-the-Year for FRM in the Cup Series in 2022, posting one Top-5 finish and two Top-10 finishes.

Smith, the defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, has one prior Cup Series start, coming at Gateway last June where he subbed for a sidelined Chris Buescher.
