Kyle Busch Motorsports, Rev Racing agree to settle lawsuit

MECKLENBERG COUNTY, N.C. — A court ruled Rev Racing must pay $105,000 to Kyle Busch Motorsports to settle a lawsuit over payments for a technical alliance.

Attorneys for KBM filed the lawsuit February 12. In late-April, they dismissed the case and reached a $350,000 settlement. According to court documents, Rev had until June 19 to pay that – or else they’d have to pay $380,000 instead.

However, attorneys for KBM filed an affidavit June 28 showing that Rev paid $275,000. They filed a confession of judgement with Mecklenburg County court that showed the basis for KBM to recover $105,000 from Rev.

The court granted the confession of judgement July 8. Now, Rev must pay $105,000 to settle the lawsuit once and for all.

Court documents show KBM accused Rev of breach of contract, seeking around $380,000 for the violations.

The parties signed an agreement in October 2022, contracting KBM to serve as Rev’s technical partner for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. KBM’s services included covering race entry fees for Rev and providing them with trucks, personnel and equipment to race each weekend.

For these services, Rev was to pay KBM in “10 equal monthly installments of $290,000 each” on-time. KBM alleged Rev made late payments multiple times.
