Martin Truex Jr. ties Dale Jarrett, Joey Logano with Dover victory
With his Monday victory in the Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway Monday, Martin Truex Jr. scored his first points-awarding Cup Series win of 2023 and the 32nd of his career.
Truex Jr. led 68 of the 400 laps, including the final 11 laps, to claim his fourth Cup Series Dover victory.
The win ties Truex Jr. with past champions Dale Jarrett and Joey Logano for 27th on the NASCAR Cup Series all-time wins list.
“It feels like it’s been a while, no question,” said Truex Jr., whose last win came in 2021 at Richmond in September. “But again, I’ve been through a lot longer ones. It’s easy to stay motivated when you’re running good and you know you can do it. It’s just as simple as that.
“Yeah, it felt like a long time, but it’s over now, and we can go try to get some more.”
Since joining Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019, Truex has picked up 13 points-awarding victories with the Toyota-backed organization.
Jarrett and Logano are both former Gibbs drivers, each earning two victories for the team.
Ahead of the trio on the wins list include Fireball Roberts (33), Kurt Busch (34), Brad Keselowski (35), and Bobby Isaac (39).
The next race for the Cup Series is scheduled for Sunday, May 7 at Kansas Speedway.
