Shane van Gisbergen secures Naval Base Coronado Pole

CORONADO, CALI. — Shane van Gisbergen secures the pole for the NASCAR Cup Series’ Anduril 250 at Naval Base Coronado.

This is his second pole of the 2026 season and his sixth overall in his Cup Series career – all of which came at road courses.

The two-time street course winner will have a clear windshield down to turn one, but he will have stiff competition with Carson Hocevar alongside him on the front row.

Ryan Blaney put together a fantastic lap to qualify as the highest Ford in the field. He was sneaky good at last year’s Chicago Street Course and looks to bring that spark to the Pacific coast.

Front Row Motorsports brought speed to not only their Trucks but their Cup program as well. Zane Smith will start fourth for his best qualifying session of the season.

His teammate Todd Gilliland also set his best starting position right behind him in fifth, his first top ten start of the year.

Daniel Suarez has not skipped a beat since the all-star break. He joins his Spire Motorsports teammate inside the top ten from sixth.

Ryan Preece bounced back after a frustrating Pocono weekend and will start seventh. Connor Zilisch will have some work to do in order to catch his teammate van Gisbergen. The rookie will start eighth at the base.

Finally, the final Spire entry of Michael McDowell wheeled his No. 71 Chevrolet to ninth with Austin Hill earning his first top ten start of the season beside him in tenth.

Below is the full starting lineup for the Anduril 250 at The Naval Base Coronado.
