Truck Series: Honeycutt, Riggs set for Winner-Take-All Championship Showdown at Homestead
The Chase for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship is down to the wire between Kaden Honeycutt and Layne Riggs and the final bout is set for this Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Last weekend in the Chase, Martinsville acted as a “could have been” kind of race for the front-running duo.
Layne Riggs was the dominant truck of the day, but it was his Front Row Motorsports teammate Chandler Smith who stole the show and the win.
Riggs would be beaten on the final restart by Smith and settled for third place.
Kaden Honeycutt ran in the back-half of the top ten throughout the day and finally got his No. 11 Tricon Garage Toyota team steered in the right direction in the final stage.
Then, Honeycutt tried to clear himself too early. Contact with the truck underneath him sent himself up the track and cost him several positions for a 14th-placed result.
Besides from the late blunder, Honeycutt’s postseason has been near-perfect so far, finishing eighth or better in five of the first six races and earning a pair of victories at Kansas and Phoenix.
Meanwhile for the regular season champion, the Chase has been a little more rocky.
Layne Riggs’ postseason started on the wrong note and quickly found himself behind Honeycutt. Two notable instances stick out like a sore thumb. His loose wheel which led to eventual damage and a 32nd-placed finish at Bristol and his wall scraping scrap with Honeycutt at Kansas resulted in 19th.
Recently, Riggs has fought back.
In four races since, he’s finished inside the top eight and picked up a win at Charlotte to enter the season finale at Homestead-Miami only 20 points behind and a chance at the title.

Clinching Scenarios
Both drivers are chasing the first series championship of their careers, but only one will leave Homestead-Miami Speedway with the title. Here’s what each contender needs to get it done.
Kaden Honeycutt controls his own destiny and can clinch the championship with 57 points, regardless of how his competitors perform. He also holds the advantage in every tiebreaker, provided he finishes inside the top three.
Layne Riggs can also secure the title outright by scoring 75 points. However, even with a victory, he could lose the championship tiebreaker if Honeycutt finishes second or third.
The tight championship battle is reflected in the title odds for both drivers, outlined below.
